Some Republicans Fume at Michigan GOP for Defending Candidates Busted for Fraud

After spending years pushing former President Donald Trump’s “Big Lie,” the Michigan Republican Party is defending its own candidates who were caught up in a massive fraud scheme. The Michigan Bureau of Elections released a report on Monday recommending that leading Republican gubernatorial candidates James Craig and Perry Johnson, as well as three others, be disqualified from the ballot after submitting too many fake petition signatures. The bureau said it had identified 36 petition circulators who submitted more than 68,000 fake signatures across 10 sets of nominating contests, including the governor’s primary. The state Board of Canvassers on Thursday deadlocked…

Former Trump Chief of Staff Being Investigated for Using False Address to Vote

Mark Meadows, who previously served as chief of staff to former President Donald Trump and as a congressman for North Carolina, is being investigated by officials from that state over allegations that he may have committed voter fraud. Meadows was an ardent proponent of the erroneous election fraud claims peddled by Trump and other administration officials following the former president’s loss to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. He was one of several Trump loyalists in the White House to press the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate such claims. Unlike the election fraud claims, however, the allegations being…

On Monday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) shared a tweet suggesting that Democrats stole the 2020 presidential election — but when describing the tactics Democrats used to “steal” the election, he described exactly how democratically free elections work. In his tweet, Paul cited a Washington Examiner article that explored how Democrats were able to flip Wisconsin from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020. “How to steal an election: ‘Seeding an area heavy with potential Democratic votes with as many absentee ballots as possible, targeting and convincing potential voters to complete them in a legally valid way, and then harvesting and…

Nation’s Largest Electricity Retailer Has Allegedly Financed Straw Candidates

Back in March, Frank Artiles, a former Republican Florida state representative with strong financial ties to the utility industry, was arrested on suspicion of orchestrating an election fraud scheme that helped oust one of Florida’s most prominent climate advocates, former state Sen. José Javier Rodríguez, a Democrat. According to investigators, Artiles reportedly paid an auto salesman with the same surname as Rodríguez to run as a third-party “ghost” candidate against Rodríguez and his then-Republican challenger, state Sen. Ileana Garcia. Farcical as it sounds, it worked. The auto salesman, despite never campaigning, likely siphoned off 6,300 votes from Rodríguez’s re-campaign to…
