Michigan Probe Links Trump-Backed Attorney General Candidate to Voting Breach

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel requested a special prosecutor investigate her Republican opponent after a months-long investigation linked him to voting machine breaches in multiple counties. The probe by Nessel and state police into voting machine breaches across the state led investigators to Matthew DePerno, a Kalamazoo lawyer endorsed by former President Donald Trump to be the next state attorney general, according to documents obtained by Politico. DePerno and two others “orchestrated a coordinated plan to gain access to voting tabulators” that were illegally seized from county election clerks, Nessel’s office said in a petition last week seeking a special…

Michigan Judge Temporarily Blocks 91-Year-Old Anti-Abortion Law

A judge in Michigan has temporarily blocked the enforcement of a 91-year-old statute that would have banned abortions in the state at any stage of pregnancy. On Monday, Oakland County Judge Jacob Cunningham issued a temporary restraining order on the 1931 law, which bans the procedure at every stage of pregnancy unless a pregnant person’s life is in danger. The statute makes no exception for rape or incest. Cunningham’s ruling came hours after a separate appellate court ruled that a previous injunction only applied to state officials, and that county prosecutors could enforce the ban at their discretion, starting immediately.…

If a majority of voters vote in favor of it, the state…

Ryan Kelley was arrested at his home on Thursday morning on charges relating to his involvement in the Capitol attack. According to a statement from prosecutors, he faces misdemeanor charges for being on restricted grounds of the Capitol building and for engaging in disorderly conduct, among others. Some Republicans Fume at Michigan GOP for Defending Candidates Busted for Fraud

After spending years pushing former President Donald Trump’s “Big Lie,” the Michigan Republican Party is defending its own candidates who were caught up in a massive fraud scheme. The Michigan Bureau of Elections released a report on Monday recommending that leading Republican gubernatorial candidates James Craig and Perry Johnson, as well as three others, be disqualified from the ballot after submitting too many fake petition signatures. The bureau said it had identified 36 petition circulators who submitted more than 68,000 fake signatures across 10 sets of nominating contests, including the governor’s primary. The state Board of Canvassers on Thursday deadlocked…
