Polls Show Republican Attacks on Teaching Racism Are Backfiring

Republicans have been attacking schools that teach the history of racism in the U.S. and provide inclusive environments for LGBTQ students, hoping to capitalize on a tactic that worked in one noteworthy election last year — but a new report suggests that these efforts may ultimately backfire for the party. Researchers and pollsters talking to Politico about GOP candidates running in the 2022 midterms said that campaign promises to restrict discussion of racial or LGBTQ issues in classrooms energize Republicans’ base, but push away centrist voters who view their attacks as being too hard on children. “Their hypothesis was that…

A new poll shows that Sen. Raphael Warnock’s (D-Georgia) lead over his 2022 midterm challenger, former football player and Trump-endorsed Republican Herschel Walker, has widened by a double-digit margin. Notably, the vast majority of the poll’s respondents were surveyed before a report shedding light on Walker’s hypocrisy on abortion was published earlier this week. According to a SurveyUSA poll conducted from September 30 to October 4, 50 percent of Georgia voters want Warnock to retain his seat in the Senate, while just 38 percent of voters say they want Walker to win instead. This is a considerable split compared to…

Trump Brags Mar-a-Lago Search Improved His Polling — It Didn’t

Former President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that the search warrant executed on his Mar-a-Lago estate last month has helped his polling numbers, a statement that is demonstrably false. In the immediate aftermath of the FBI search to retrieve documents that Trump improperly removed from the White House, the former president’s numbers did improve among Republican respondents in some polls. But among the electorate overall, Trump’s numbers have not improved as a result of the investigation. Still, Trump claimed in a radio interview on Thursday that he has been faring better in the polls since the search warrant was executed.…

A newly published NBC News survey indicates that a clear majority of Americans support the numerous investigations into former President Donald Trump, including inquiries into his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and the investigation into his improper removal of classified documents from the White House. Fifty-seven percent of the poll’s respondents said that the investigations should continue because Trump should be held accountable, while just 40 percent said they didn’t support the investigations, citing a belief that they are politically motivated. These views differed based on ideology; while 92 percent of Democratic-leaning voters and 61 percent of independents…
