UFO/UAP Sightings in Scotland November/December 1979

November and December 1979 saw several other reports of UFO sightings in Scotland. These included sightings of objects described as being cigar-shaped, disc-shaped, and triangular. Some of these sightings were reported by multiple witnesses, and some were even witnessed by police officers. The high number of UFO sightings in Scotland in 1979 led to speculation that there might be something unusual going on in the country at that time. Some of the other UFO sightings reported in Scotland in November and December 1979 included:

Why humans can’t trust AI: You don’t know how it works, what it’s going to do or whether it’ll serve your interests Do you trust AI systems, like this driverless taxi, to behave the way you expect them to? AP Photo/Terry Chea Mark Bailey, National Intelligence University There are alien minds among us. Not the little green men of science fiction, but the alien minds that power the facial recognition in your smartphone, determine your creditworthiness and write poetry and computer code. These alien minds are artificial intelligence systems, the ghost in the machine that you encounter daily. But AI systems…

The Mechanics: Chapters 1-3

A shadow moved across rugged frozen ground, a shard of void sliced out of the night, carved into being then raised to life by the Epinoia. Tall and lean with long black hair thrown back by the wind. Oblivious to the cold, he strode across the ice-bright, snow-swept landscape, the heavy scrunch of footsteps disappearing into the swirling snowfall.Gasometers haunt the black horizon, bound by ice-encrusted walkways and ladders and bruised by yellow blotches of light. The rugged moonsoaked wasteland off York Way echoed a vague reflection of nights in the Dauru desert’s white sands beyond his home town. The…

Dark matter and extra dimensions?

Extra dimensions could help explain the abundance of dark matter. The Standard Model of particle physics predicts that there should be much less dark matter than we actually observe. However, if dark matter particles live in extra dimensions, they could be much more abundant than expected. Extra dimensions could help explain the large-scale structure of the universe. The universe’s large-scale structure, such as the distribution of galaxies, is thought to be influenced by dark matter. If dark matter particles live in extra dimensions, they could help explain the universe’s observed structure. However, there are also some challenges to the idea…

She joined the Women’s Police Service (WPS), a civilian organization that assisted the police, in 1915. She was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and…

Magic. A Rough Guide – The Foundations

‘Magic. A Rough Guide’, is my third novel. It’s a departure from ‘Nanopunk’ and its sequel ‘Lightning Seed’; about Alister Cloud, a young man infected with nanoparticles that gave him Wi-Fi powers to connect with any network or wireless-enabled electronic device – or control other electronic devices via physical contact. The market is saturated with urban fantasy stories written for all age groups. This got me thinking about what would happen if Magic returned and how society and the government would react. The more I thought about it, the less likely it seemed that magicians would be able to hide…

Kings Cross 1979.

King’s Cross in 1979 was a very different place than it is today. It was a run-down and neglected area, with many vacant buildings and empty lots. The station was dirty and overcrowded, and the surrounding streets were full of crime and poverty. The area had a long history of decline. It had once been a thriving commercial hub but had fallen on hard times in the early 20th century. The construction of Euston Station in 1837 diverted traffic away from King’s Cross, and the area became increasingly run-down.The situation worsened in the post-war period. The area was hit hard…
